My work at this residency shall focus on the pre-existing landscape/cityscape and the landscape portrayed in sci-fi films in Japan. I will be working on the theme "Future Wonderland" which explores the loss of a developed country in the midst of progression. As much as progression is a positive word that suggests development, there exists negative impact that we should not overlook. Sci-fi film has always been a visual statement of our vision of the future, which displays a strong desire to progress and reach that utopia wonderland. However, it also distances our relationship with one another compared to the past era when human beings did not have anything fancier than one another.
